Hi folks, it has been quite some time since I last posted something on the blog.
Together with the help of my colleagues, we have organized our own Confluence Awards for 2007 to recognize the people who have contributed to growth of our knowledge base and the usage of wiki in our organization.
Although it was running late beyond the first quarter of 2008, it was better than never. The awards given are:
- The Champion Awards - given to those people who championed the use of Confluence
- The Guru Awards - given to the top 25% users who shared their knowledge on Confluence
- The Fisherman Awards - given to the top 25% users who visited Confluence to "fish" for knowledge
The awards did not incur a lot of cost to give you. We designed badge-like graphics with our in-house artistic talent and posted it as a blog announcement together with the list of winners. And the winners are allowed to use the graphic on their own profile pages. Eventually they can have a page to put up all the awards they have won.
Of course, with the awards being endorsed by the management was a super big bonus. After the announcement was posted up on Confluence and via email, the response was good. The activity on our Confluence site almost doubled and the awareness for the site also increased.
Of course it did lead to some problems - performance issues with higher visitor rate. But it is a happy problem that we spent some time to resolve it :)
